Housing affordability is still the elephant in the room. Last week, the White House floated a proposal aimed at limiting large investors from buying single-family homes to free up more inventory for everyday buyers. It could help in some areas. It also might not move the needle much at all. Like most things in housing, the impact won’t be immediate, and it’s rarely as simple as one change fixing everything.
